In this project, we are responding to the problem of environmental degradation diagnosed in Wąbrzeźno County. The problem is described, among other things, in the 2020 ‘Report on the State of the Environment in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province’, developed by the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Bydgoszcz. As part of the project, we have formed a group of young volunteers called the ‘Eco-Crew’. This group takes part in eco-interventions submitted by the county residents on the project website. We have invited young people to a training trip called ‘Visionary Rally’, during which they will develop an appeal to local authorities on the state of the environment and learn how to conduct community consultations. An interactive map of the county is available on the project’s website, where residents report places in need of eco-intervention, such as wild rubbish dumps or water pollution. The ‘Eco-Crew’ itself decides whether the reported problem requires action by the local government or can be solved on its own. In addition, the two villages most affected by environmental degradation will be landscaped with new plantings. The selection will be made by the ‘Eco-Crew’ group after a public consultation. The project will culminate in a debate during which the results of the project will be presented and discussed on how to take care of the immediate environment. The direct beneficiaries of the project are the ‘Eco-Crew’ members, and indirect beneficiaries are the residents of Wąbrzeźno County. Our partner is the Płużnica Municipality which supports us in promoting the project.
