In this project we want to raise awareness about the accessibility of services for people with disabilities in public spaces. The problem we are addressing is the low level of knowledge about accessibility among people working in companies and public institutions, as well as the insufficient number of solutions to meet the needs of people with disabilities. As part of the project, we set up a group of Self-advocates of Accessibility consisting of people with disabilities, whose task is to empower people with disabilities in the local environment. We conduct a series of training sessions and integration meetings for them. They become ambassadors for people with disabilities, who make it easier for those people to integrate into the community. We carry out training sessions on adapting spaces and services to the needs of people with various types of disabilities and conduct accessibility audits in enterprises, public institutions and social economy entities from the tourism, catering and leisure services sector (in accordance with the requirements of the Act of 19 July 2019 on Ensuring Accessibility for People with Special Needs). The audit will result in a report with recommendations on the implementation of solutions in line with the needs of people with disabilities. We host open educational, cultural and entertainment events during which we bring the audience’s attention to the accessibility of public spaces for people with disabilities. The project is addressed to people with disabilities as well as the representatives of the catering, tourism and leisure services sectors. Indirectly, the whole local community will benefit from the project’s activities.
