Calls for proposals in the Programme (chronological overview)
1st thematic call
Non-governmental organisations, which independently or in partnership prepared a project in one of the three areas of the Programme were invited to submit their proposals in the 1st thematic call. NGOs could also apply for additional support for the development and capacity building of their organisation.
The first thematic call for proposals within Active Citizens Fund – Regional Programme lasted from March 17 until May 17, 2021. Under the call, a total of 716 grant applications were submitted, including 345 for large grants and 371 for small grants. We have awarded grants for the implementation of 169 projects: 97 large ones and 72 small ones.

Call for intervention projects – 1st round
The objective behind the call for intervention projects was to fund activities which constituted a rapid civic response to crisis situations identified by Applicants, i.e. a sudden change in the social situation or growing problems affecting a specific target group.
The 1st round of the ongoing call for intervention projects ran from September 7th to December 30th, 2021. Project proposals were received and evaluated on an ongoing basis in 5 announced deadlines. Across all deadlines, in total 195 project proposals were received, 20 of which received funding.

2nd thematic call
Non-governmental organisations, which independently or in partnership prepared a project in one of the three areas of the Programme were invited to submit their proposals. NGOs could also apply for additional support for the development and capacity building of their organisation.
The 2nd thematic call for proposals under the Active Citizens Fund – Regional Programme lasted from 25 January to 29 March 2022. 668 applications have been submitted in the call, including 338 applications for large grants and 330 applications for small grants. We have awarded grants for the implementation of 103 projects: 73 large ones and 30 small ones.
Call for organisational grants
Organisational grants aimed to support the day-to-day operations (and capacity building) of NGOs, as set forth in the submitted development strategy/plans. Operations funded from organisational grants had to be aligned with at least one of the three areas of the Programme.
The call for proposals for organisational grants under the Active Citizens – Regional Programme lasted from 7 April to 7 June 2022. 87 applications have been submitted in the call. Organisational grants were awarded to 19 organisations.
Call for intervention projects – 2nd round
The objective behind the call for intervention projects was to fund activities which constituted a rapid civic response to crisis situations identified by Applicants, i.e. a sudden change in the social situation or growing problems affecting a specific target group.
The second round of the call for quick response (intervention) projects lasted from November 22, 2022 to May 22, 2023. Project proposals were received and evaluated on an ongoing basis in 5 announced deadlines. Across all deadlines, in total 278 applications were received, 268 of which met eligibility criteria and were sent further content-related evaluation. 19 applications received funding.
Microgrants for emerging organisations
Microgrants were funds awarded to less experienced organisations for on-going activities connected with team building and work organisation, recognisability, and cooperating within local communities. The objective behind this call was to provide optimal conditions for the development and proper functioning of emerging organisations and entities which have yet to adopt internal rules and procedures, agree on workplace culture, and find ways to effectively reach out to the recipients of their activities.
The call for microgrants to advance emerging organisations lasted from 1 March to 8 May, 2023. 317 applications were received in the call. We have awarded 41 microgrants.
