The project addresses the problem of domestic violence and its negative consequences, including social exclusion. Anyone, regardless of their age, gender or family situation can get involved in violence. According to the Polish National Police, approx. 85,000 people experience violence every year, and most of them are women. Data collected by the Lubuskie Province Office, show that in 2019, there were 6510 people affected by violence in the Lubuskie Province, of which as many as 4613 people came from the southern part of the province – this is why our project covers this area in particular. While preparing the project we also drew on our own experience of running a crisis intervention centre, a single mother’s home and a helpline for victims of violence. The aim of the project is to support groups that are at risk of social exclusion due to experiencing violence and other crisis situations. The planned activities are addressed to different social groups (minors, adults, seniors), both those who experience crises and those who are the perpetrators. As part of the project we will conduct training activities, workshops and conferences on counteracting domestic violence and developing educative skills. We will also provide persons involved in violence with individual counselling. As an outcome of the project, a network of 8 districts of the Lubuskie Province Office will be established that will conduct training sessions. As part of the network’s activities, a common database will be created containing data of support centres for people involved in family violence. Beneficiaries of the project will be inhabitants of the City of Zielona Góra and the Lubuskie Province. The project’s partners are the Regional Centre for Social Policy and the Municipal Social Care Centre. Partners’ role is to provide organisational support, recruit project participants as well as promote the project activities and its effects.
