Join us in 5-day training in dialogue facilitation according to the methodology developed by the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (Nansen Fredssenter) in Norway, based on openness towards others and respect for differences. The workshops will take place in October in Warsaw and Gdansk.

Individuals from NGOs who are active in their local communities, particularly in facilitating discussions on issues related to common good, and those who specialise in topics related to social divisions are invited to take part in the training.

The workshops will include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Dialogue and facilitatio:
    – dialogue as a method, perspective and approach
    – introduction to the role of the facilitator and his/her tasks
  • Active listening and asking the right questions
  • Creating a safe space for dialogue
  • Conducting public dialogue

The workshop will be interactive and, in addition to providing an introduction to understanding what dialogue is and how to create the conditions for it, it will also include elements of exercises to practice the facilitation of dialogue by the participants themselves.
The training will be conducted by Christiane Seehausen (Nansen Centre for Peace and Dialogue) and Agata Urbanik (Pogotowie Facylitacyjne, graduate of the NCPD dialogue facilitation courses).

Nansen Centre for Peace and Dialogue (Nansen Fredssenter)

is an institution promoting peace, dialogue and human rights, based in Lillehammer, Norway. NCPD’s core area of work is to create spaces for dialogue across conflict lines. Its working methodology and approach to dialogue is the result of more than thirty years of practical experience gained in Norway and abroad. NCPD runs educational programmes and courses on dialogue and conflict transformation, facilitates dialogue between conflict parties by working directly with them, and organises public dialogues on topical issues in Norway and with international partners.

For more information about NCPD’s approach to dialogue, please visit the organisation’s website.

Logistics:

  • The workshop will take place on two dates (of your choice): 7-11 October 2024 (in Warsaw) and 21-25 October 2024 (in Gdansk). Each training will have the same programme and speakers – so one person can only attend one training.
  • Please indicate all training dates and locations that suit you on the application form. We will invite you to attend the workshop on one date according to your preference indicated on the application form, but if you are able to attend on both dates, this will enable us to be flexible in planning the workshop groups.
  • To participate in the workshop, you must commit to attending the full five days of training (approximately seven hours each day).
  • The workshop will be held in English, but simultaneous PL/EN translation (via headphones) will be available. Please indicate such a need on the application form.
  • Participation in the workshop is free of charge: The organisers will cover the costs of travel to the training venue, accommodation on site (in the case of those living in another location on a daily basis) and food during all workshop days.

How to apply

If you would like to participate in the training, please complete the application form here by 15 May.

NOTE:

  • Completion of the form does not constitute eligibility for the training. If there are more applications than places available, the organisers will select trainees on the basis of the information provided on the application form, to ensure in the first instance that they represent a variety of organisations and the diversity of issues they deal with.
  • The workshop will mostly include elements from the courses on the basics of dialogue and dialogue facilitation provided by the Nansen Centre for Peace and Dialogue, so it is not intended for people who have already completed other trainings provided by NCPD trainers, e.g. within the ‘Turn off the ego, understand the other’ programme or the project ‘How to talk? Fostering Information Skills as a Core Competence for Informed Citizenship in Participatory Democracy” implemented by FRSI within the Active Citizens Fund – Regional Programme, or training organised directly by NCPD.

The workshops are organised jointly by the Active Citizens Fund – Regional Programme and Active Citizens Fund – National Programme.

If you have questions about the workshop – please contact the bilateral and regional cooperation coordinators: Ewa Stokłuska (Active Citizens Fund – Regional Programme, ewa.stokluska@fed.org.pl, +48 720 801 013) or Anna Fedas (Active Citizens Fund – National Programme, afedas@batory.org.pl, +48 22 536 02 41).
